Hammer toe
Hammer toes are toe deformities where the middle joint of the affected toe is bent downwards. It usually starts as a minor and flexible bend in the toes, and can progress into rigid toe deformities causing painful corns and callouses or difficulty fitting into footwear.
Common causes of hammer toes include ill-fitting footwear, muscular imbalance, genetics, arthritis and trauma. The treatment plan for hammer toes depending on the severity and the contributing factors to the deformity.
