Fungal nails
Fungal nails are a common condition that can appear as a white or yellow discolouration. If left untreated, the discolouration may spread further and the nail may thicken, crumble or lift along with spreading to other nails.
The most common cause is walking barefeet in damp areas such as swimming pools, public showers or a nail salon. Treatment by a podiatrist include cutting back and filing down the fungal nail and applying topical antifungal medication. Oral antifungal tablets may also be required for severe fungal nails.
